Wynonna Earp was renewed for season 4 in 2018 (it was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con), but when it came to January 2019, the show hadn’t started filming. It was later revealed that the production company didn’t have the funds. The show’s fans, called Earpers, started fighting on Twitter with the hashtag (#FightForWynonna) after the showrunner, Emily Andras, posted a cryptic tweet about family. It got the show noticed.
→ Then an Eaper paid for a billboard in NY. This soon gathered momentum, with countless billboards being bought (the billboard company even offered an Earper discount!) and even the cast & showrunner bought billboards themselves to thank the Earpers for their support. The area soon became affectionately dubbed ‘Earper Square’.
→ After a long year, it was revealed that the fight was won & season 4 commences filming January 2020 for a end of Summer release date. It was also revealed during the #FightForWynonna that SYFY had also renewed the show for a 5th season. So, plenty to look forward to!
→ The first half of season 4 aired July 2020 and the cast returned to work to finish filming the latter half of season 4 during the covid pandemic. The episodes are expected to air early 2021.
• There is currently a new hashtag on Twitter (#FiveForWynonna) since we don’t have further confirmation that the show is going ahead with its season 5 pickup.
